Eligibility:

  • Pre-service candidates (internal and external) and in-service candidates seeking admission to B.Ed. program shall have 50% marks in aggregate [45% marks for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates and pass marks for SC/ST candidates] in three-year B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Mus./ BPA (Rabindra-Sangit/Classical-Vocal) degree with Honours/ Major from a recognized University/Institution.

  • The candidates shall have studied any of the following subjects in combination at under-graduation level, one of which is Honours/Major subject: Bengali, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Santali, Economics, Geography, History (Ancient/ Modern), Music (Rabindra-Sangeet/ Classical-Vocal), Philosophy, Mathematics, Statistics, Education, Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry) and Life Science (Botany/Zoology).

  • In-service candidates shall have at least three years continuous experience as a full time approved regular teacher in any secondary school recognized by the Central or any State Government and they must apply through proper channel.

  • Preference shall be given for direct admission to those in-service candidates with at least three years continuous teaching experience as a full-time teacher from the intern school (not more than one teacher from each intern school) that has provided facility for internship at least for last three consecutive years to the B.Ed. interns of the Department. In case of more than one applicant from a particular intern school, selection will be done on the basis of service seniority

Admission Procedure:

Pre-service Candidates

  • External candidates who have passed their Under Graduate examination on or after 2015 shall be eligible to apply.

  • Candidates who have qualified their Under Graduate/Post Graduate examination from 2022 onwards (within the closing date of submitting Application Form) from Visva-Bharati shall be treated as internal.

  • The eligible candidates will be selected on the basis of merit determined by the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in three-year B.A. /B.Sc. / B.Mus./BPA (Rabindra-Sangit/Classical-Vocal) degree with Honours/Major.

  • Selection shall primarily be made on pedagogy subject–wise taking Honours/ Major subject‟s percentage of aggregate into consideration.

  • Pedagogy subject-wise separate merit list for UR, OBC, SC, and ST will be prepared.

  • General merit list for PWD (Person with Disability), SC, ST, and OBC will also be prepared separately.

  • In case of any pre-service seat is lying vacant in any pedagogy subject in any internal or external category (UR/OBC/SC/ST), the seat will be filled up first from the same pedagogy subject and from the same internal or external category (UR/OBC/SC/ST). If the vacancy is not filled up in any category within a pedagogy subject, it will be transferred to category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST), merit list irrespective of pedagogy subject.

  • Pre-service OBC seat(s) will be filled up from UR waiting list in case of non-availability of OBC candidate(s). SC seat(s) will be filled up from ST waiting list in case no SC candidates are available and vice-versa.

In-service Candidates

  • Selection of in-service candidates will be done on the basis of their service seniority as well as fulfillment of eligibility conditions 1, 2 & 3.

  • In case any in-service seat remains vacant, the same will be filled-in on merit basis irrespective of Honours/Major subjects from among the external candidates.

  • In-service candidates will make necessary arrangement to draw their salary drawn from their respective schools.

  • Caste/PWD certificate, if applicable.

  • A copy of No Objection certificate from the competent authority/ Managing Committee Resolution regarding their deputation and approval letter from D.I. / equivalent competent authority.

  • A copy of the No Objection Certificate from the competent authority/ Managing Committee Resolution regarding their deputation and approval letter for in-service candidates from intern schools.

  • A copy of the certificate from the competent authority stating that they will be given study leave during the entire duration of study for in-service candidates.

M.Ed. PROGRAM

Two-year M.Ed. is a regular full time professional program of four-semester recognized by National Council for Teacher Education, New Delhi.

Student Intake: 50

Eligibility:

Candidates seeking admission to M.Ed. program shall have 50% marks [45% marks for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates and pass marks for SC/ST candidates] in one of the following degrees/diplomas from a recognized University/Institution:

  • B.Ed.

  • BA. B.Ed. /B.Sc. B.Ed.

  • B. El. Ed.

  • D. El. Ed. With an undergraduate degree (with 50% marks in each).

Admission Procedure:

  • There shall be a M.Ed. ENTRANCE TEST for eligible candidates. Medium of Entrance Test will be English only

  • Selection shall be made on the basis of merit determined by the score obtained by the candidates out of 100 marks. In case of tie, the general tie-breaking sequence will be followed.

  • External candidates who have passed their qualifying degree on or after 2015 shall be eligible to apply

  • Candidates who have qualified their B.Ed. examination from 2022 onwards from Visva-Bharati shall be treated as internal.

  • The candidate must produce their final mark sheet and NCTE recognized certificate of qualifying degree at the time of counselling, otherwise their candidature will be automatically cancelled. In such case, no claim for refund of registration fee will be entertained.

  • Merit list would be prepared as follows-

    • Separate merit lists will be prepared for three major groups of subjects as Social Science, Science and Language taking into consideration the pedagogy subject in B.Ed., or B.A. B.Ed. /B.Sc. B. Ed., or/B. El. Ed., or/D. El. Ed.

    • The Group of subjects-wise merit list for internal seats will include internal candidates referred in Serial no 4 only.

    • The Group of subjects-wise combined merit list for external seats will include all the candidates (from serial no 3 and 4), applied for that particular group of subjects

    • A separate exhaustive merit list (category wise as PWD, UR, OBC, SC and ST) including all qualified candidates in M.Ed. admission test will be prepared. Here, no separation would be done for the group of subjects.

    • A single merit list for PWD candidates would be prepared for all groups of subjects.

  • The selection shall primarily be made on group of subjects-wise (Social Science, Science and Language) based on the merit lists prepared as per 6(ii) till all seats are filled. While doing so, the reservation status of the vacancy will be maintained. There will be no conversion of seats at this stage.

  • In case of any seat lying vacant in internal category of any group of subjects (Social Science, Science or Language), it will be converted to the corresponding reservation category of external seats.

  • The selection shall then be made for external seats on group of subjects-wise (Social Science, Science and Language) based on combined merit lists prepared as per 6(iii).

  • If any seat remains vacant in any group after exercising serial no 9, it will be filled up from the exhaustive merit list of all groups. In this case, merit list from serial no 6(iv) will be followed. While doing so, the reservation status of the vacancy will be maintained.

  • Vacant OBC seat(s) will be filled up from UR waiting list in case of non- availability of OBCcandidate(s). Vacant SC seat(s) will be filled-up from ST waiting list and vice-versa.

  • In-service candidate must apply through proper channel.

M.A. (Master of Arts) in Education is a full time regular four-semester program

Eligibility:

  • For External Candidates: The external candidates seeking admission to M.A. (Education) program shall have passed three-year B.A. (Honours/Major) in Education with at least 50 % marks for UR and EWS, 45 % marks for OBC (non-creamy layer), and pass marks for SC and ST candidates.

  • For Visva-Bharati University Candidates: The VBU candidates seeking admission to M.A. (Education) program shall have passed three-year B.A. (Honours) in any other discipline with Education as a Subsidiary Subject/ B.Ed. each with 50 % marks for UR and EWS, 45% marks for OBC (non-creamy layer) and pass marks for SC and ST candidates.

Admission Procedure:

  • There shall be an M.A. (Education) ENTRANCE TEST for eligible candidates. Medium of Entrance Test will be English only
